Huge Scam Through Whatsapp , Be Alert From Hacker's Sly Tricks

Don’t share WhatsApp verification PIN with anyone

The scammers use WhatsApp logo as profile picture and this has prompted many unsuspecting users to provide their verification code.

The coronavirus pandemic and the resultant lockdown has given WhatsApp a 40 per cent surge in usage, according to a report by Kantar. It is already one of the most used instant messaging platform across the globe. And this has also made it a huge area of interest for hackers.

According to WABetaInfo, many users are seeing messages claiming to be from WhatApp’s Technical Team, and asking for the six-digit verification code sent to a user when they register their WhatsApp accounts.

The scammers use WhatsApp logo as profile picture and this has prompted many unsuspecting users to provide their WhatsApp verification code.

WhatsApp doesn't ask for any personal information, including verification codes

Since the scammer uses the WhatsApp logo as the profile picture for the account in question, unaware users may fall for it. However, as noted by the WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp doesn't message users on the app, and if it would in a rare circumstance, a green verified indicator will be visible alongside the logo and the account name. It is also important to note that the Facebook-owned company doesn't ask users to provide any of their data, including verification codes.

Therefore, the message seen in the screenshot is nothing but a scam to gain account access. You should not pay attention to any such messages.
