Indian Army Bans 89 Application : TikTok, Facebook to Insta

Considering security reasons, the Indian Army on Wednesday asked its personnel to delete their accounts from 89 apps by July 15 or face action. From social media accounts to e-commerce and dating sites, platforms banned for usage by the personnel include a range of apps. Some of these are Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, songs.pk, WeChat, Hike, TikTok, Likee, Shareit, True Caller, PUBG, Tinder. The move comes amid a two-front cyberwar with China and Pakistan as the Indian Army takes into account an "exponential increase" in the number of cases being targeted by their intelligence agencies. 
The 1.3 million Indian Army has directed all personnel to remove 89 apps, including Facebook and Instagram, from their mobile phones by July 15.

While the Army has in past issued several directives on the use of Facebook and also asked its personnel to limit the use of Whatsapp for official work, the present directive is much broader covering a range of apps across domains like messaging, content sharing, web browsers, video hosting, gaming, e-commerce, dating, anti-virus, news and music among others.
